Love Shack

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson – Love Shack

Do you sometimes purchase a product that you fell in love with at first sight and then, for some reason, hardly use it? I know I’m guilty of that a lot and among the many, many (hangs head in shame) products that haven’t had the love they deserve from me are the Home Sweet Home Thinlits that debuted in the Holiday Catalogue.

So, they’re the hero of today’s project, which is a little piece of Valentine’s whimsy, a miniature Love Shack, ready for a few sweet treats or to decorate a desk or shelf. I really like it, it makes me smile and I can see it’s going to be on my desk for quite a while after Valentine’s Day passed.

I used the Home Sweet Home Thinlits for most of the house with two from the Love Notes Framelits (the windows and hearts on the door). The base of the house is in Thick Whisper White and I only needed two sheets from the Sending Love DSP pack to cover the walls and roof.

I used Tear and Tape to assemble this project, which is perfect for 3D items. The tabs on the pieces of the house are slightly narrower than the tape but you can easily roll it back onto itself and because it’s double-sided you won’t lose any of the stickiness.

The banners are part of the Home Sweet Home set and the tiny white hearts are cut out when you die cut the hearts on the window boxes. I decided to just have a solid door on this one but have left the roof open if I want to put anything inside.

As my decoration is quite simple I popped the window boxes, hearts on the door and one of the banners up with dimensionals to add a bit of interest. If I had the Labeler Alphabet I would have added a little sign that read “Love Shack”, which I think would have been the finishing touch.

This box I really tiny only 5 x 8.5 x 4.5cm at its widest points but I managed to fit in seven of the little hearts you see in the photos,so there’s plenty of room for a sweet treat 🙂

You could make a much more ornate version than mine, but I really like the sweet and simple style I ended up with, I hope you do too. If you’re inspired to make your own I’d love to see it, just let me know and I’ll pay you a visit 🙂

See you soon.

Cheers,
Karen
