12 Days of Christmas 2016 | Day 8

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – 12 Days of Christmas 2016 | Day 8

As Christmas comes closer I start to think about some of the extra little touches I want to add to my table, especially ideas to keep small children busy and happy to stay seated for what is usually a lengthy meal. Today’s project is what we’re having this year and my youngest son is looking forward to them being filled with all sorts of surprises.

I know decorating tins is not a new idea, but it is quick and easy and I know the kids in our family will be thrilled to see a little something on the table that’s just for them 🙂

I found these tins at Kmart (they’re 3 for $4.00AUD) and they measure 7.2 x 4.5cm (2-3/4 x 1-3/4). They’re small, so won’t take up much room and (hopefully) will be inexpensive to fill.

I used the Candy Cane Lane DSP and matching washi tape to cover the base and lid rim of the tins and then prettied up the lid with some Red Glimmer Paper and a sentiment and image from the Tin of Tags layered on top. That’s it! This is such a fast project you could make stacks of these in no time, the longest part was figuring out what size framelits I wanted to use 🙂

So what will fit inside? Well, besides sweets (there will probably be a very small one), little toys (like Lego or Shopkins), cars, mini craft kits, mini games (I’ve made one that I’m going to share tomorrow) are a few of the things I tried out. I also found out that this particular tin fits our embellishment containers perfectly, you can fit three small, two large or one large and one small. I’d be thrilled to find one filled that way in my stocking, hint, hint 😉

I know our small folk will love these and I hope you do too. I’ll be back tomorrow to share the little game I put together that will be just one of the goodies to go inside. I haven’t shared any measurements as they would vary depending on your own tin size, but if you’d like them just leave a comment and I’ll be happy to share them.

Cheers,
Karen
