Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – 12 Days of Christmas 2016 | Day 7
Hi, my name is Karen and I’m addicted to washi tape! Phew, that’s a relief 😉 With every new catalogue it finds its’ way into my basket because it so beautiful, easy to work with and coordinates with the paper that I’ve also fallen for (that’s a story for another day). I do use it, but there’s just so much on each roll that at the end of the catalogue I still have stacks left over. If you also suffer from this problem hopefully today’s project can help lighten your washi stash and send it out to brighten someone’s day, as it was intended to do 🙂
These are little 3 x 3″ gift cards, quick and easy to put together, a stamped sentiment, a couple of punches, all layered on a cheerful washi background. One thing I do like about this size card as opposed to a gift tag is that there’s room to write a little message and they’re cute enough to be displayed with the rest of the Christmas cards.
I used Thick Whisper White cardstock (cut at 3 x 6″, scored @ 3″) for the base and another layer cut at 2-3/4 x 2-3/4″, the extra layer is optional, I liked it in case I messed up the washi layer (it happened a couple of times ), that way I hadn’t ruined the whole card.
I used the Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape (reduced in the Year-End Closeouts) for these ones but they will look just as sweet using any of the others, just use the coordinating cardstock and ink and the results will be perfect (Stampin’ Up! is renowned for their product coordination, it’s why I joined, they make it look effortless).
The sentiments are from the Tin of Tags stamped with Real Red ink, punched out with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch and layered on Real Red cardstock punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. I popped this up on the washi tape background with dimensionals and added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels for some Christmas sparkle.
I used my grid paper to line up the washi strips and keep them straight and went with torn edges and just eye-balled the lengths, I really like the effect that creates 🙂
I didn’t make envelopes for these but could easily make some using the Envelope Punch Board and some coordinating paper or even just copy paper if you’re running low.
These little cards are too small to post but are just the right size to add to a gift (big or small), some flowers or could make a sweet gift themselves (who hasn’t run out of gift cards on Christmas Eve?) They don’t have to just be for Christmas, change the sentiments and they could cover birthdays, babies, weddings, anniversaries or pop them into a lunch box for a little hug from home.
I hope you liked today’s quick and easy project, despite my rather wordy post 😉
I’ll see you tomorrow with Day 8.
Cheers,
Karen
