12 Weeks of Halloween 2016 – Week 12

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – 12 Weeks of Halloween 2016 – Week 12

Well, we’re finally here, the last Halloween project in this series 🙂 I have a really simple and relatively quick project for you today that only uses one sheet of cardstock and a little vellum.

I have a little Halloween luminary and I promise it looks so much nicer in person than it does in the photos.

I kept mine very plain as I’m more interested in how it looks at night but you could really go to town and add stacks of embellishments to pretty it up for daytime.

The finished size is 2.5″ x 2.5″ x 5.5″ and you can easily put a battery operated tea light inside to light it up.

Halloween Luminary Tutorial:

Cut cardstock to 10.5″ x full width
Score @ 2.5″, 5″, 7.5″ and 10″ (on the long side)
Score @ 2.5″ (on the short side)
Fold and burnish all your score lines

Cut the tree edgelit along the top of the box using a partial die cutting technique and the score lines as placement guidelines. I used the Magnetic Platform to keep the edgelit in place.
(NOTE: Be very careful doing this so that you do not damage your edgelit)

Trim the side tab and cut up the bottom tabs.

Punch a hole using the 2″ circle punch on all four sides and partially punch out the side tab so that it doesn’t show through the window.

Adhere four 2-1/4″ square pieces of vellum behind each circle with glue dots.

Die cut and adhere the silhouette pieces to the vellum.

Assemble the box as usual, decorate the exterior further if desired, insert a battery operated tea light and enjoy 🙂

I hope this all makes sense and if you would like a more detailed tutorial with pictures just let me know.

Today’s project is plain and simple and requires very few supplies but I think these will look lovely lighting up my house this Halloween and as there’s no flame you can leave them unattended (not around small children or pets of course).

I hope you’ve enjoyed this series, I had a great time coming up with different ideas each week. As Halloween is so close now I really wanted this last project to just be a finishing touch that wouldn’t take too much time or supplies and I think this little luminary does it, I hope you think so too 🙂

Cheers,
Karen
