Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – 12 Weeks of Halloween 2016 – Week 9
I’m planning to share two 12 Weeks of Halloween projects this week to make up for my late start and have a really quick and easy project today using our new Clear Tiny Treat Boxes. I was inspired to try this style of decoration after seeing this box by Brenda Quintana from QbeesQuest.com. I find I don’t use my washi tape anywhere near enough and loved finding an idea where it could have a bit of the limelight.
The boxes are lined with a square of Halloween Night DSP, cut a smidge under 4.5 x 4.5″ (If you cut it 1/16″ under 4.5″, it fits beautifully inside the box). The squares were scored at 1-1/4″ on all four sides, the corners removed and it fitted perfectly inside the box. The washi tape was then adhered on the outside of the box at the top of the DSP (it helps if there is some weight inside to keep the paper down).
In the boxes that contain loose lollies I also made a liner out of baking paper the same way, to stop any oils from marking the DSP, but that is an optional step.
The tags on top of the boxes were all made using the Spooky Fun stamp set and matching edgelits. I stamped the sentiments onto Crumb Cake cardstock in Basic Grey, cut them into banner shapes, added a couple of the Halloween Night Enamel Dots and popped them up on a Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper circle using dimensionals.
The images are from the same stamp set also stamped in Basic Grey, the bats were die cut using the matching framelit but I had to fussy cut the ghosts (they don’t have a framelit). You could use the ghost from the Home Sweet Home Bundle instead, but I was trying to keep supplies down and use just the one stamp set.
I used approx. 50″ of Halloween Night Baker’s Twine, doubled, to tie around the boxes and attach the tags. I really like how this looks and was pleased to find that you can easily slide the twine off which makes it easy to access the goodies inside 🙂
As we get closer to Halloween I’m trying to use up all my Halloween supplies, I’d much rather it be used and gifted than sit gathering dust in my craft room for another year and I think this project is great for doing just that. I know the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper will still have a lot of use for those enjoying Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere but we’re in Spring here and I would have to put my brain cells into overdrive to use it for Christmas 🙂
I hope you liked todays’ project and that it gives you some ideas for using up your own supplies.
See you soon.
Cheers,
Karen
