Feeling Blue

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – Feeling Blue

The card I have to share today is one I made when I was feeling a bit blue, it should really be grey, but feeling grey sounds a bit strange so blue it is 🙂 My husband works away from home and was recently away for much longer than usual so I was feeling a bit lonely and this card is the result.

Little Paper Party Foxy Friends

It was made using the Foxy Friends stamp set and Fox Builder Punch. This can be purchased as a bundle, save 10%, and I would definitely recommend it, the little pieces that are part of this set would be a nightmare to fussy cut!

The card base is Smoky Slate layered with a piece of DSP from the coordinating A Little Foxy paper stack (this is a 6 x 6″ paper stack). The top layer is Thick Whisper White cardstock and I cut this 1cm smaller than the base (8.5 x 12.7cm) so more of the DSP was visible.

The little racoon is stamped in Smoky Slate, Basic Grey and Basic Black and punched out with the matching punch. The stump is Soft Suede on Crumb Cake cardstock, which was fussy cut. The little heart is Red Glimmer paper punched with the Owl Builder Punch. This is a funny punch, for me, I rarely make an owl with it but frequently use the elements on other projects, I hope it stays around for a long time 🙂

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, this was the very first stamp set I bought because it covers pretty much every occasion (except Halloween in the Australia/NZ catalogue) and is a great place to start if you want a bit of everything. Just remember the sentiments are small, so if you want big and bold this might not be the one for you.

Although I love all the different animals you can create with this set I have a real soft spot for the stump and the curved vine stamp (weird, I know) and I like how you could use these elements and the other accent pieces with different stamp sets. It think being able to mix up stamp sets makes them more versatile and therefore more value for money and that definitely influences my purchasing decisions.
