Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson – Gorgeous Grunge – Stepping it up!
As mentioned in my last post I’m challenging myself to come up with some CAS (clean and simple) cards that are also quick and easy to make. The challenging part for me is keeping them simple as I tend to keep adding and then lose the CAS look I was after. However, I like adding, so I’m giving myself permission to embellish them a bit more after I’ve achieved my CAS goal and this is what I came up with for Gorgeous Grunge.
For my first version I’ve used the stripe stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using different colours this time, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Cucumber Crush and Dapper Denim. The smallest flower from the Blossoms punch in the coordinating cardstock adds a little extra dimension and the centres are finished with White Perfect Accents coloured black with a sharpie. The same die cut word as the original in Basic Black is the sentiment and the card base is now black instead of white.
The inside is simply finished with the same images stamped across the bottom on the same white layer as the front.
My second version uses three stamps from Gorgeous Grunge this time in Dapper Denim, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise and Watermelon Wonder. The sprinkle style stamp was heat embossed in silver under the sentiment (it’s very subtle but looks lovely in person) and the word “enjoy” was die cut in Basic Black and Silver foil and adhered together slightly offset to add another silver element. This version has a third layer of silver foil between the white and black that really ties it all together.
Inside has the same cardstock layers as the front and the same style of stamping and silver embossing in one corner.
Here they are all together, I really enjoyed using just one stamp set and sentiment and seeing what I could come up with. I have to admit that the last card is my favourite of the three, maybe because it would make a great masculine card (I have three sons, so I’m always on the lookout for masculine cards).
I hope you liked my take on this great stamp set, it makes for gorgeous backgrounds and accents and is just one of many in the new catalogue (check out pages 118-125). They may not look like much by themselves but I have three now and quite often they’re just that “something” that my project needs to finish it off.
I have a quick little project to share with you next time using the Jar of Love stamp set and framelits. I was trying to use up a ummm not so favourite piece of DSP but the end result turned out so sweet, I think they deserve to be shared. I hope you’ll come back to see.
Cheers,
Karen
