I’m back with some more autumn lovelies to share with you today. I know I’m a tad obsessed with autumn at the moment but after a long hot summer in Brisbane I’m thrilled with the cool change finally coming through. Most of the trees here are not deciduous, which has its own kind of charm, but I grew up down south and still miss those seasonal changes that are so much more subtle here. Anyway, if I can’t have autumn leaves in real life I can enjoy their beauty on cards and here are two lovelies to share with you today.
I’ve seen the style of the one on the right elsewhere and have wanted to try it myself for ages and then after I made that one wanted to add a few extras to make it more my own.
I stamped an assortment of leaves from Vintage Leaves in Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and Delightful Dijon, the sentiment is from Acorny Thank You in Tangerine Tango and I like the little play on words, I think that’s why this design stuck in my head, it’s funny.
My second card uses the same cardstock layers as the first, Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon and Very Vanilla and the leaves are basically the same but I added the lace from Grateful Bunch in Smoky Slate behind the leaves as a subtle background. Two butterflies from the same set are playing amongst the leaves, one of them is popped up to add some interest and a sentiment from the same set is stamped in Tangerine Tango to finish it off.
The insides are very simply finished with the same cardstock layers and some elements from the front stamped inside. I don’t tend to add sentiments inside my cards, I think it makes them more versatile when they’re blank.
I hope you liked my nod to autumn and I have one more leafy card to share before I’m done (for the time being anyway 😉 ). It’s funny where inspiration comes from sometimes and I never imagined a humble tissue box would a source but it’s where my next card came from and I hope you’ll come back to see.
